Peter joined the firm in 2007 and, in the same year, opened up our Aberdeen office with a view to focusing on International investments. These included Clyde-Union, Reservoir Group, Triton (which merged into Forum), Centurion Group, Nautronix, Vautron (now part of MPC-Kinetic) and Score Group. During his tenure, Peter has served five terms as acting CEO of our international portfolio businesses. Although now semi-retired, in his current role as an Operating Partner he continues to be available as required, and currently serves on the boards of Score Group and Hydrasun.
After achieving a B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1979, Peter began his 43 year oilfield career as an Engineering Specialist with Halliburton where he remained for 5 years prior to spending two years with Sparrows Offshore as a Project Engineer. In 1985 he joined Drexel Equipment and commenced a 21 year career with them, during which time Drexel underwent several mergers and acquisitions, including Tuboscope and Varco, before becoming part of National Oilwell Varco in 2004. Peter has managed operations throughout the Eastern Hemisphere and, in particular, in the North Sea, Middle East, Africa and the Far East. He was Group Vice-President for the company’s Tuboscope and Brandt Eastern Hemisphere operations.
Peter is an accomplished fund-raiser and is actively involved in his local community having served as Secretary and Chairman of Montrose Round Table, and past President and current Secretary of Montrose Burns Club. He is currently Chairman of Montrose Port Authority, and Chief Executive of Montrose Football Club.
